4-H Québec

Shaping Tomorrow’s Leaders Through Learning Today

4-H Québec is a community organization dedicated to developing life skills—such as leadership, cooperation, responsibility, and independence—among English-speaking youth in Québec through skill development and achievement recognition.

We encourage a balanced lifestyle—intellectually, emotionally, physically, and spiritually—and remind participants to always strive to be good friends, mentors, community members, and engaged citizens.

Who participates in the 4-H movement?

4-H members are children, teens, and young adults aged 6 to 25. Those wishing to become members must meet these age criteria by January 1 of the current 4-H club year.

4-H leaders are adults who volunteer their time to support the implementation of the 4-H program.

Parents and other adult volunteers can also be part of the 4-H movement. Families can thus enjoy club activities and special events together.

Communities benefit from the skills acquired by 4-H members and can play an active role in encouraging and supporting 4-H club initiatives.

Positive Youth Development

At the heart of all 4-H programs is the positive youth development approach.
Positive youth development is a way of understanding and supporting children and teens that emphasizes building on existing skills and valuing each individual’s strengths.

At 4-H, our positive youth development programming is based on learning by doing. This approach equips young people and enables them to acquire the skills needed to contribute, create, and exercise leadership throughout their lives, as well as the confidence, independence, and resilience that will support them in their academic and professional journeys.

Our globally recognized positive youth development programs have a measurable impact, as our members are supported by high-quality guidance provided by competent, committed, and caring leaders.

Through 4-H Canada’s positive youth development approach, we empower 4-H members to achieve their goals by providing them with tools, learning opportunities, and the support of caring adults, so they can help build a healthy, prosperous, and sustainable future for all.

Our approach, represented by a honeycomb model, is designed to train and equip future generations of responsible, caring, and committed leaders.
