Membership Requirements
How to Become a Member?
Members participate in one or more projects throughout the year, in addition to attending club meetings and activities. They are encouraged to volunteer and participate in their club’s Achievement Day.
If you’d like to join a club, contact 4-H Québec to find the club nearest you. When you contact us, please provide the age of the prospective member and your place of residence. Members must be between the ages of 6 and 25 as of January 1.
What are the age groups in the 4-H program?
There are 5 age categories in Quebec (age as of January 1):
- Cloverbud: ages 6 to 8
- Junior: ages 9 to 12
- Intermediate: ages 13 to 15
- Senior: ages 16 to 21
- Proven: ages 22 to 25
How much does 4-H membership cost?
The annual membership fee for 4-H Québec is $50, with a $5 late fee starting February 1 of each year. This fee covers your provincial membership. Some clubs also charge a small fee to cover the cost of materials or activities. 4-H is committed to offering an affordable program that is accessible to all families.
For the year 2026, all new members will receive a promotional code offering a 50% discount.
When does registration begin?
Annual membership in 4-H Quebec runs from January to December each year. Registration for the following year opens in mid-December, and late fees apply starting February 1.
Do I have to come from a farm to join 4-H?
No! Although the program has traditionally been based in rural areas, it is now open to members from all regions. Many projects do not involve animals. If you’d like to participate in an animal-focused project, feel free to contact your local leaders to find out how they can help you.
